The BUILDING-ACTIONS community outreach program is designed to bridge the relationship between the public and the creative process. Based on the research themes explored by INTER-ACTIONS and artists working in the studio, a custom designed program is offered; including movement research sessions, discussion sessions, shared-readings, intervention performances, work-in-progress presentations and more.

For all BUILDING-ACTIONS events there is no need for signing up or registering in advance. All you need to do is show up. All events are FREE! The program takes place in both German and English and there is no previous dance experience required for any of the activities.

The nature and philosophy of the BUILDING-ACTIONS program is inspired by the Random Collision working method.

In order to respect the commitment and professionalism of the artists who create the BUILDING-ACTIONS Sessions for and with you, we ask you to arrive on time at the beginning of the sessions at 7 p.m. Unfortunately, there will be no possibility to join the sessions late. Thanks for your understanding!

All INTER-ACTIONS activities are regularly updated HERE.

In weekly sessions, choreographers who are currently working in the studio share their movement language and ideas. This can look very different. Sometimes, for example, they invite the participants to try out movement tasks from their rehearsals, some times they share different forms of improvisation. The participation is free of charge, without pre-registration and without obligation.

→ Every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., Kurfürsten-Anlage 58, 69115 Heidelberg, Germany.

That space where dance meets fitness and effort meets pleasure. This 1 hour dance workout is a nonstop movement journey that will activate your sensations, fantasies and creativity while working every muscle and joint of your body. It is a high intensity adventure through the body. You will sweat, you will burn calories and you will be tired after but you will also feel liberation and full body stimulation that will empower and satisfy you.

What would happen if we performed physical translations of dance reviews? This research develops a practice of staging dance reviews as reenactments based only on the information in the text. What would this performance look like? What would be missing? What will it reveal? This session will invite you to watch the reenactment performance and offer your feedback as well as try to reenact the review yourself.

The Movement Playground is an invitation to enjoy dance as movement. Movement takes place in every body. It is the fundament of life and there are as much varieties as there are people. Varieties of vibrations, shapes, expressions, frequencies, bodies, movements. Forget about your idea or concept of what dance is. No prior experience is needed. Dance is in and for every body.

Join, move, play and enjoy yourself.

On selected dates, the choreographers excusivley share their results and show for example, excerpts from a new piece. The participants are invited to watch, ask questions and discuss with the team.

Moving Stories invites you to collectively shape a choreographic storytelling strategy. This will then be performed spontaneously by professional dancers, musicians and actors and together with you.

The processes and principles of choreography are little known outside of the professional dance world. With Moving Stories you can gain deeper insights into this world and at the same time gain practical experience in choreography and storytelling.

At the Movement Sessions, you can join choreographer Catherine Guerin and other team members to explore different elements that will help you tell stories with your body.

Artists: Catherine Guerin (Smart Moves Project Director) with Wayne Götz, Miriam Markl, Pascal Sangl, Elisabeth Kaul, Tobias Schmitt
